One more row don't you think?

This is a queen sized bed it is draped over. The length is a little short. It is to go on a full sized bed and I want it long enough to cover the foot of the bed. It is 80in X 80in in the raw form. I thought about borders but it still isn't quite long enough.

Definitely colorful for a scrap quilt.

Lots of parts and pieces were cut and used for this top. Chris

Don't you just hate it when this happens

I really hate this part of sewing. You are moving along and the best efforts are made to sew straight seams and press correctly then this happens. I had to rip out three seams and now I have to resew all the seams and hope nothing is stretched or that the seams will be straight again.

I have a test block made and I just thought I was moving along a lightening speed. HA??? The third strip got put on the wrong side of the two center squares. Well it didn't match up right and I didn't notice it until after it was stitched and pressed.
These two squares are ready to be squared up to sew together for another block, but now I have to go back and restitch the block I made the mistake in. I had to stop and add some more strips to my tub for variety. I think that will happen through out this project. Seems like a lot is cut, but to get the scrappy look you need tons of variety. So today between cooking and cleaning some I will get another pile of scraps and this time I am separating the lights and darks as I cut them. Before I threw everything in the same tub.

I woke up really early with the time change. I have been up since 5am, but that was 4am on the old time. Yippeee all my auto time change clocks changed on their own. I hate resetting clocks when the electricity goes off in a storm. Back to fix my repairs. Chris

Goal was met This morning not yesterday

Ok this is the last few inches of the binding being sewn on by hand. So glad this one is done. Off to the washing machine to get the markings out. My sons' walls in his living room are burgandy. So this will look nice being used. I have to get it in the washing machine to get the Crayloa markers out I told you about before. I like the 80/20 batting I used and hopefully it will pucker some.

This is the backing on the quilt. Color Guard sheets will be used when washing this one. All that Turkey Red hopefully won't bleed all over the rest of the quilt with the Color Guard Sheets. Mark another one off the list that needs finsihing before Christmas. Scrappy number 2 for this fall done. Chris

Almost Done

This is in the final stages of being finished. The border is being quilted then the binding.

The darker color on the blocks is the markings which of course will wash out. I have so much trouble with some of the marking tools I have I went back to the Crayola washable markers that my grandkids have used for years. One more project out of the sewing room. Yipppppeeeee!!!!! Chris

Second Post for the Day

This is the second post for today. I think things are going better here since the storm has moved on. The wind is still up and will be for the next two days. The leaves will be falling quickly here.

Looking for fabric to finish something else I found the scrappy blocks my Mom started for a cover for my freezer. There were 16 blocks that were started. They are the 4 odd sized blocks on the center of the quilt blocks. I decided to add fabric to the outside of this block and make a real scrappy couch throw. I think a couple borders and I will be ready to quilt the top. Chris

Next UFO

This is the next project to get attention. This is for Christmas gift for my son. Better get to it. These are other projects I started the 9 patch in the square is the one I am machine quilting.

This is what the block will look like. 4 four patches with sashing and a corner square

. I called this one the Ugly Quilt. I used fabric that was dark and maybe wouldn't use up unless it was cut up in small pieces.

This is the intersection of four of the previous blocks. The alternate block it forms is a 16 patch with sashing. It is a very masculine quilt and I really need to gt some of this pieced so I know what the backing for it will need to be. Scrappy again. Chris

I know crazy

This is what I have been doing today. I mowed and weed eating and trimmed back flowers then it was to hot so I decided to make some more flower shapes with Hexagons.

The one on the left is .625 inches on a side or 5/8 of an inch. The one on the right is .5 or 1/2 inches on a side. I challenged myself to use scraps and to make them two colored hexies besides. That is a penny on the right side and a quarter over the one on the left side. My Mom had called this morning and said I was nuts to do all this hand work. Why not use my machine more than I came up with this idea. She did the ultimate sin today she threw her scraps away. She was tired of using them. I about had a heart attack over that. But I am sure they are in gushy garbage so I don't think I will go retrieve them. This is fun and I like seeing what I can come up with out of a pile of scraps. Call me Nuts but I am having fun and using scraps that aren't going to the landfill. Mother did you hear that? Chris Oh yes and I am using thread up so I have less small amounts on spools in my drawers.
